An update!!!!

I feel a bit ill this morning, I had quite a disturbed sleep, which was frequently interrupted by a pain in my stomach! I blame the movie last night for the disturbing dreams, which were black and white with a hint of cobalt blue and seemed as though a strobe light was flashing throughout! And the sore tummy could possibly be blamed on eating pringles late at night….I should have resisted!!

I suppose my excuse for not having written anything for a while was too much uni work, but I have no excuse now, I haven’t been there for a week, the lectures are finished for the semester, and I only have exams to look forward to now. The first one isn’t until the 28th April, and I know I really should be studying every day, but I can’t get motivated, I can’t help but think that anything I read today will clearly be forgotten by the time I sit the exam.

I can’t believe I have 5 months off. Its clearly fantastic!! I am most looking forward to being able to read fiction. I miss reading just for fun!

Recently I had the most amazing birthday party of my life!! I turned five again, there was a magician and everything! I like prancing about in fairy wings and a tutu! It’s a shame that this is not a socially acceptable style of dress for day to day life, because I would like to wear it ALL THE TIME!

Also, on my birthday Liam was sooooooo cute!! He organised a treasure hunt around new college to find presents and poetry. It was special!

I joined the gym. Since doing so I have found myself quite addicted to fitness classes! They are really good! I feel sad that I cant go today because I’m working!

Quick March!

It's been a while since I posted anything on my blog, but no-one seems to have noticed....

Too much work, it always sucks when I have too much work!

25 random things

well...i just posted this on facebook...thought i might put it on here too...

1. I cried this week because I thought my mum was going to be diagnosed with cancer, and the idea of it made me go into shock. (It turns out that she does not….good news!)
2. In an ideal world, and if money was no object, I would never like to get a real job, I would like to spend my time writing novels, I don’t mind if they ever get published.
3. I have kept a diary for several years. I intend to spend a lot of time reading them when I am 80.
4. I have also had a blog for a few years. My blog is not like my diary. If you want to read my blog you can! You can find it at www.samgibb.blogspot.com you could even leave a comment!
5. I have lost quite a lot of weight in the last year. It was a pretty good idea.
6. I get quite easily bored in conversations which don’t involve laughter.
7. Poppet, my sausage dog often winks at me! People seem reluctant to believe this when I tell them.
8. I really like singing. Just not in public. My Dad has never heard me sing.
9. I really like finding out people’s secrets. I read people’s text messages. This upsets people and gets me into trouble sometimes…. I would never blackmail anyone though…
10. I’m in love. It’s pretty sweet!
11. I need to pee right now.
12. Sometimes I over share.
13. I cringe when my mum (and her husband Andrew) use acronyms like TMI. It just seems very wrong.
14. I’m thinking about tagging my mum in this, so I’m wondering if I should delete number 14…but I don’t think I will. While I’m here I will also mention that the text language is also wrong.
15. I don’t like text messages that contain no vowels.
16. My favourite moment at new college this week:
Sam : (To Liam) I got you this
Liam : Oh wow
James Eglinton : Is it your birthday?
Liam : No, it’s a muffin.
17. I haven’t eaten any chocolate since 2007! Fact!
18. I have never dyed my hair.
19. I have realised that at some point soon I am going to dye my hair because I have found a few white ones. I am not convinced that this is not in some ways linked to GHD use! When I do dye my hair, I will dye it the same colour….I really like the colour of my hair
20. My favourite film is Edward Scissorhands. I also really like Labyrinth, Amelie, The muppet Christmas Carol, Zoolander and Napolean Dynamite
21. When I watched The Notebook I cried inconsolably at the end. I was so deeply affected by the film that I cried again the next day thinking about it (I think I was hormonal that day)
22. Antony and I used to pretend to fall asleep when my Granny sand speed Bonnie Boat in the hope that she wouldn’t finish the song. My granny was tonedeaf!
23. I often really really miss my Granny….
24. I like living in Edinburgh so much that I would very much like to live here all my life.
25. I really want my children to grow up in a house with a garden. And I want to grow tomatoes in a greenhouse. I don’t like the taste of raw tomatoes!

Happy Birthday...

On the 25th of January we sometimes was haggis
It’s Rabbie Day and if he were alive today,
He would be 250 years old,
And that would be weird,
A bit like his poems.

But still, this morning I feel inspired
I’m writing a poem cos it feels,
Like I should,
Although he would have used,
Really strange words.

So, instead of using strange words,
I’m using a strange structure,
Well, no real structure,
And no rhyming pattern,
And no point to it!

Tails is dead...

So, I was walking past a shop on North bridge on the way to work. A hand written sign informed me that Tails had died. I was quite shocked!

Strange, I didn't actually know him, but I felt a bit sad.

People at school used to talk about him. He was a sort of mythical person who lived in a cave in cockburn street and would pierce any part of you even though you were only 14. I think I was scared of him. But oddly fascinated by stories of him.

Turn's out he was actually a real person...and mortal...

Not Christmas day...

Another great not Christmas day, although i was disappointed to be outvoted on the muppet Christmas carol...

Not Christmas day is something we do every year, we have a bunch of people celebrating Christmas on a day that is not Christmas, it is therefor called "not Christmas day" and it is always fun! we have Christmas dinner, Christmas presents (some really LOVELY!) and Christmas fun!

Here are some pictures of it...for the non facebook people!

Thats fun huh?

So, I am officially ready for Christmas! after just returning from town getting the stocking presents for the kids (Antony and Steph). Town was absolutely dead! God bless the credit crunch :)

Its Chriiiiiiiistmas!

So, I'm officailly allowed to be excitied about Christmas time now that the exams are over! I have been looking forward to this for so many weeks, so really can't account for the fact that I have felt miserable all day today!

I think it may be linked to this weather, Poppet and I got soaked, that was pretty miserable! But yeah, spent most of the day catching up on weeks worth of hollyoaks and feeling generally fed up!

What is wrong with me?

Anyway, Steph came roud tonight, we watched the nightmare before Christmas and talked about boys!(maybe I just talked about one boy actually) I love my sister! Without her the day would have been all together a waste of time!

lack of blogging...huh?

I have not had time to blog recently, i dont really have time to blog now, but I'm at work, and I finish soon, I have revision sitting infront of me but I am not taking anything else in for now...my brain is full!

I really dont have time for all the things in my life, I have to squeeze in quite a lot these days, I remember life pre-new college, when I woke up, watched this morning and hung out with poppet! Now I feel like I never stop!

I have an exam on monday, then on on the 17th and one on the 18th. I cant wait till they are over! I hate exams so much! And i hate studying, It hard to explain, I just feel like i cant get into it in the way i should becasue it doesn't have a point where you can say you are done revising, do you follow?no? Like an essay, you can put it off to an extent, but eventually you sit down and write the thing, so when its done its done, then you stop. But when you revise, you just have to keep going and going until you go and sit the exam, and you forget most of the stuff you read anyway, unless you are a boy genius like Jimmy Neutron, which i am not!

I have a Christmas tree in my lounge. All the presents are wrapped and under it. I thought i should get it done so that i can focus on revision, but I have felt no Christmas joy yet..

Oh, and there was a crazy flood in the flat on Thursday. No one drowned.

I'm pretty much done now. I'm off to look over my notes again, make sure I know the difference between my hypathetical and categorical imperatives and all that!

I dont have much to say....

(but if you vote for me all your wildest dreams will come true)

So, yesterday, while i was passing some time at reception between making myself cups of tea i was clicking on the next blog button, as i sometimes do. I'm not sure why, they are never really very good, most trying to sell some sort of computer software or whatever. Anyway, yesterday i found this blog by this girl who was writing her blog to her boyfriend apologising for something which had happened and then went on to talkign about the various ways in which she self harms.

Why did she write that on the internet? concerning!

Hopefully my blog is less depressive! gosh...

So this week I become homeless again! Prior warning of these things is always a bonus huh? These people are coming to destroy the flat to put in new radiators and a new fire. This is good, in that our flat might not be so freezing all the time! however, for this to happen they are taking up all the flooring, and talking down one kitchen cupboard! the man was also mean to Hannah for no reason! Idiot! Luckily I have options, and I am staying at Delhaig, Poppet too!

Oh, and I have too much work to do, it is seriously irritating my happiness!

I realise that I called this post "I don't have much to say..." yet it is actually quite long now! And it has no real point to it!

oh, and also, its officially winter! You can tell becasue starbucks are now selling the christmas drinks! How nice are toffee nut lattes? However, they are not really that good for you, and contain so many calories that they have to replace a meal if you are me and really want one!

And, you may have noticed (no, you didn't notice) that the one word film reviews have disappered? Well, the thing is, since starting uni I have had no time to go to the cinema, or to do anything!!!! its taken over my life! But I did go this week, the one word film reviews might return, with my life soon...but probably not!

I had an idea that i should really type these in microsoft word first then cut and paste it instead of writing in this box because there is no spell checker and there are sooo many mistakes. I am really bad at typing and spelling. Its not cool.

So I'm done now. I lost you in paragraph 2 huh? Oh well.

right.

Vote for Pedro.

remember...never play with matches

This educational video was around when i was little, it taught me to be curious about the fun that matches might be, but anyway, i thought i would include it today becasue there are lots of fireworks and bonfires tonight with it being the 5th Novemeber (happy birthday Antony). The video is pure nostalgia!

In other news, i think America has decded on their next president, and Obama won. I hope he doesn't turn out to be a bad choice, i think the other guy would have been really bad though so i suppose its good. having said that.....i think it would be really hard to upstage Bush in the role of "worst president in history".

And...hmmm....no....nothing!

On the doorstep...(a poem about another short spell of homelessness, and getting pneumonia and frostbite....on Halloween)

I waited for two hours,
thats a long time to need to pee,
poppet launched himself against the door,
In a desparate attempt to reach me!

My keys on the inside in my other bag,
and Hannah in a hospital visiting Eva,
I was really very cold,
It felt like forever!

I listened to the labyrinth sountrack,
and phoned my friend,
and sang,
The End.

sunday secrets...

Every sunday morning I read post secret, i never forget, some of those secrets are really really weird!

I never watch the news though...hardly ever!

What does this say about me?

Saturday, October 18, 2008

theres really nothing of interest here...dont read it! (reverse psychology?)

Ive spent the whole day becoming better aquainted with my new friend Nehemiah. I'm pretty fed up of him now. Do you think it would be wrong to compare him to hitler in my essay? He seems to have this big thing about breeding with anyone who is foreign. But then its probably wrong to compare a jew to Hitler now i think about it yeah?

Anyway, its started to really not be fun getting up for work, its reached that point in the year when i have to get up in the dark. It sucks so bad! and on top of that its just really cold just outside my duvet! Its only going to get worse too, next weekend (I think) the clock go back an hour, this will possible make it dark for getting up for uni too, so this means getting up in darkness every day! Sometimes winter is crap! and if it want to be cold, then thats ok, i can cope, but its just annoying when it rain too! Although i do have a fun new kath kidston umberella which makes rain time more fun...

My mum is 50 tomorrow. Thats pretty old.

I just realised that I don't have to work next weekend. I actually have 2 days off!!!!! this hasn't happened in a while! And we are going to have fun in alton towers. Getting back at 4 am on monday. I think i have a lecture at 10...thats not ideal...

Blog maintenance...

I just deleted my book blog....it was never updated and therefore there was no point in it!

Tom reminded me the other day that I have a dream blog. I often forget about it. I have not deleted it because i like it, was reading some of the dreams this morning at work....i clearly have mental health issues!

I've been spending a lot of my time this week complaining about everything (aparenlty) in a manic state.

Really I'm slightly worried.

I figure I will survive. Its very unlikely for me to actually die. If I do, I'm sorry for your loss! : )

I'm not sure...

If I am allowed to believe in the psychic ability that I clearly have!

Recently i have become increasingly aware that I can actually read peoples minds.

Steph and I even tested this ability on holiday after I freaked her out but knowing what song was in her head! We then went on to test it and she thought of lots of songs and i guessed them all. Also, a LOT of times recently I have started singing a song (and some really random) and people I am with will say that they were just thinking that song in thier head!

I take my phone out of my bag sometimes thinking there is a message and there isnt, but then as i go to put it away again a message arrives.I have decided that there are like electronic signals reaching my brain before my phone and that scares me cos I think i could get radiation poisoning from that!

last night the dvd player at work went missing. I decided that ______(insert random name because i cant say it)in room __ might have it, you shoudl go and ask him. And he did...and I have no idea why I knew this!

I can't think of other examples of this right now, I do remember having a conversation with my mum about this when I was a bit younger and she said that there was some kind of similar thing with my aunty audrey. It's a bit weird huh?

Priorities and Procrastination

I have so much reading to do tonight! The annoying thing is that I have actually already done it but it made so little sense to me that I have to do it all again! anyone else think I am completely doomed? All I can gather about this Thomas Aqinas or whatever his name is...is that he should have been given a word limit! he just goes on and on and on and then on some more!...gosh!

Anyway, yeah i should really be doing that but I am not going to for the next hour because something special happened today!! the new next directory arrived...and its the christmas one!! So this next hour is dedicated to studying that instead!

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

and?

yeah, not much.

Well uni is pretty weird, and so far im pretty sure i am completely out of my depth but i think thats ok, next week....yeah next week i will probably be just as clueless. One thing i did find out is that there is a new college choir! so i decided to join, that brought me a small amount of joy. singing makes me happy! Also, the library door makes me laugh, only me, no-one else finds it even a little bit funny. its the biggest door on the planet!! i find it funny becasue it makes me feel like i am on one of the film sets that have giant props to make the actors look tiny. i think thats funny. im wierd maybe.

Anyway, i have donated a considerable amount of my time catching up on hollyoaks...its been an intense time in that little village! people killing eachother, people contracting HIV, people getting married, people having affairs, people finding out that people who they thought were dead are actually still alive and faked it all on an insurance claim...its crazy. Its not the best use of my time, i should really be reading a million pages of crazy christian ethics stuff that i dont understand. babble babble babble.

i am doomed!

Extreme makeover!

here are before and after pictures of my new hair!

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

So here's news from Sam world...

I started Uni! Not actual uni, but induction stuff and standing in long queue for 2 and a half hours to register...not fun! managed to miss my appointment with my director of studies (who is also the principal of new college) and i was scared i would get in trouble!) but he didn't shout at me...

and, very excitingly for me, i got a bus pass for the first time ever, im not sure why I have never got one before but its fun having a bus pass! But yeah, i figured that i was spending more money getting change for the bus than anything else, so this will save me money and i wont have a handbag full of chewing gum from now on!

My holiday was fun! It was hot but it rained a lot, didn't spend too much time in the sun although according to people who i have seen so far i do have a tan! We spent the first week doing not very much, we didnt have a car so could only go as far as we could walk...which was walmart at the end of the street! Anyway, the second week mum and andrew arrived with the car and we did lots of fun things. In 14 days we went to 8 theme parks! All the disney ones were good excep epcot which was a bit blah, and antony branded it "too educational" although the space lauch thing was amazing! My favorite disney park was hollywood studios! it was very fun! The car stunt show and indiana jones were really good and the aerosmith roller coaster was my favorite rollercoaster, because it incorporated a sing along!

Busch Gardens and sea world were also good, the roller coasters at busch gardens were really good! But Universal was my favorite place! both parks are really good, the day at Islands of adventure was ruined a bit when there was a thunder storm and then when i lost my camera i was seriously gutted!! I had some really good pictures that i was looking forward to sharing with fun captions...

For some reason on holiday i always end up having minor injuries! this holiday was no exception! i skinned my knee and my knuckle on the bottom of the swimming pool( which for some reason was really sharp on the sides and bottom, like sandpaper with glass in it!) i only have half a toenail on my right big toe after kicking the side of the table, the nail was hanging off so i had to pull it off, it was well painful, and it looks sooooo horrible....i will show you if you want! I also managed to roll over it after this with my suitcase...twice! i opened the fridge on my heel, it was so sore i fell over! I had water stuck in my ear for about 3 days which was very painful and made me half deaf! i was attacked by the biting insects aain as always! and had a huge bite on my foot! it was so big i thought it was a nest of spider eggs for 2 days!

But yeah, all in all a fun time! Came back more exhausted than relaxed! I want to go back again, because i love aeropostale! the clothes are so cool and theres none in the uk, and you can get there stuff on the internet but they dont ship to the uk! oh well. Also, theres going to be a harry potter ride at universal in 2010, that will be fun!

I'm done now. I go back to work today for the first time in ages!sigh...

I'm back from my holidays! Here's Augusts one word film reviews....very over due!

Angus, Thongs and perfect snogging - ok (Although i was sad because Alan Davies is actually old and this is not ok!)
The x-files :i want to believe - meh
You dont mess with the zohan - crap! (and well dodgy!)
Wild child - samey (it was like st trinians!)

and thats it, oh I did see House bunny in America, it was quite funny, i din't like it as much as Ant, he laughs so loud in the cinema! The seats in the cinema were well good, they are comfy as anything!

current stressers...

Here are some things which are making me stressed!

1. No-one I am going on holiday with can tell me where I am staying in Florida.

2. Edinburgh University have not sent me a book list.

3. I start Uni very soon (that ,in itself, is stressful)

4. Boys' are messing with my friends' minds'(yes that was plural boys and plural friends(and plural minds)...this leads me to the conclusion that boys are bad!)

5. Im working too much

6. Edinburgh is too busy right now

7. I spent too much money in the next sale...that was bad.

8. I might be being stalked...but then, so might we all!

There is probably more....yeah. this list is stressing me out too!

Hannah had a birthday, Steph had a birthday, Dad is having a birthday,im good at presents you know! ask them! soon i will go on holiday, but not soon enough, at this time i will spend some time in the sun and read some books, i will also do some disney realted activities and other such things.

People keep smashing our windows at the hall in granton, its quite annoying, but they are so lazy they didn't even bother to climb through the window and steal the equiptment. I suppose thats a good thing though. Smashed windows are annoying though.

People keep getting married! Lots of them! Its weird!

And, thats the non-eventful events of the moment.

You dont get much sleep, the kids are always hyper, there will be no cup of tea containing milk in the first 24 hours, you dont really sit down on anything comfy for the whole week, the midgies will eat you alive!!!! and the ground is slippy when wet, you may get grass stains on your knees for the first time since you were 8...and you may find this quite novel.you may fall down the stairs carrying expensive equiptment and experience people fussing over the box's contents more than you.

...you might want to think about taking time off to recover!

Sex and the city - YEAY

teenage kicks!

Steph had a party last night to celebrate turning 18, although, technically she isn't 18 for a couple of weeks yet. So she had a house/garden party at my mums. And do you know what....it was really weird!

I know why it was weird, it was weird because everyone there seemed so wee! Like the majority of the people there are in 6th year at school, i dont think my 6th year looked so wee....were we that wee? They were kids!

I know that this means that I am old. I'm kind of ok with this...kind of...

This must be what old people mean about the police looking young, that might be the next stage?

Occasionally i use sleep as an escape from reality....because sometimes reality is a bit pants!

If I wasn't at work right now I could do with a wee snooze!

Things I dont want to see on my way to work....but did this morning!

-Vomit
-Excessive Litter
-Drunk People
-A Seagull eating a pidgeon!

Seriously, I was shocked by this seagull so much that i stood at the side of the road where it was a nd said no no no in a high pitched voice, i was unaware of the other human being on the scence until he looked at me as though i may have just escaped from an institution of some sort...then i felt i should explain why i was shouting no! so i said "sorry, its just that the seagull is actually eating the pidgeon and its really awful and its making me feel like ill and stuff"...he didnt respond much, i think he might have said "aye!".

I arrived at work and told the story to my friendly colleuges....they did not care!

the mega-crap trip!!

I dont want to go into too many details...but kevin ad I did not have very much fun on the mega bus....not that im surprsed at this or anythng...lets face it, it was always going to be bad, but it was like really bad!!

Its cramped, its always too hot or too cold, either way is uncomfortable! the people who get the mega bus are really odd people, they seem to go into this savage mega mentality where everyone is out for theirself and they wont apologise if they shove you! no! and they pretend to be sleeping so that the people who get on in newcastle cant get a seat (what a selfish girl that was, lying across three seats....she didnt wake up even after being prodded!)(and the tiny chinese woman who took the good leg room seat, as if she needed leg room she was about 4 ft tall, her feet didnt even reach the ground!)And for some reason these people can not wait to use the smelly toilet on the bus(NB(what does NB actually mean?) just no, i hope to get through this life without using one ever!)seriously, the bus driver had hardly even started the engine and they are jogging to the back of the bus like its a fun activity. One guy went 5 times!! well 5 times that we noticed, but we were asleep some of the time! I bet he was smoking in there actually, now i think about it. To top it all off the driver spoke way more than he needed to! and kept randomly tapping his micrphone to give us irrelevant information...or to ask directions!! (i kid you not!)

To repeat this experince two nights in a row was probably the most rediculous idea we (KEVIN) ever had! by nght two we were zombies,Kevin was so zombiefied that he nearly forgot me in a service station...we fell out...we didnt speak for about 3 hours, this was mainly because Kevin was asleep (although i woke him up to point out the angel of the north (which i doubt he remembers?) then i forgave him.

so, side effects of the excursion included being generally fatigued, sore throat, headache, runny and blocked nose, painful joints...

other than that i cant really complain i guess! : D will i get the mega bus again...im going to say no. I think I would sooner walk to London!

Im having fun in the garden today in my bare(i spelt this bear initially, for your mental image viewing pleasure i decided to tell you this) feet. its sunny, and i have discovered a clever way of making loose leaf tea in a mini cafe tierre (no i dont know hows that is spelled either) so that i dont have to make a whole pot and end up not enjoying cup two and beign completely disgusted with cup 3! Also, i realised today that for my whole life i have been hanging washing out all wrong! i have changed this now!

peace! (im a hippy, aparently a plastic one....ok)

Sunday, May 11, 2008

Tickets please!

I genuinely hadn't seen a bus conductor in about seven years...

Poppet and Sam's small to medium sized adventure!

Here are some pictures I took on our small journey...

We started our walk here, its the wee walkway under the dean bridge.

Yes (Hannah and Tom you will notice i let him off his lead!)

And there is lots of water and trees and things down there...(none of my favorite trees but thats ok)

It is quite lovely.

After leaving this walkway we found ourselves in stockbridge which excited poppet because his favorite shop is there (its called justdogs, its like the only shop Poppet is like actually allowed in, although we get away with taking him into lots of places because of his blatent cuteness) but unfortunately the shop isnt open on mondays....sp poppet got no special treat today! : (

By accident really, we arrived in inverleith park where there is a nice pond thing , poppet here has a feather attached to the side of his mouth, i didnt remove it until 5 minutes ago, it looked funny

just so you know, you are not allowed to park in there!

Poppet and this swan had a staring contest....the swan won! HE was quite happy to terrorise the ducks though, what a bully!

I loved our small adventure, and Poppet did too(he is like totally passed out right now...aww) He spent the whole time trying to eat things he found on the ground and I listened to Sigur Ros and Amiina (who i only heard of like last week thanks to Richard - Thank you Richard....I know you will read this because i will force you to!) they are a bit like Sigur Ros really, probably because they are people who are in Sigur Ros....yeah

Anyway, yeah, that was all I wanted to say! Im worried that I am turning into one of those people with annoying Blogs that write about the most mundane things, like what they have in their bag. Am i one of them? first its check out the way I wrapped these presents, now its look where I walked my dog today....maybe tomorrow I will blog about what shampoo I use and post pictures of my bus journey to work...

Friday, April 25, 2008

sam has become uber kitsch...

i dont know why!

but wouldnt you lke to recieve presents that look like this??

i think its joyful!

this may be my new way of wrapping all presents!

worthy of note...

BOught whittards fairtrade tea bags today to take to work (becasue for some reason the teabags at work have been replaced by rediculous vending machine teabags with metal in them!!!) and I have to say that these are the best fairtrade teabags i have tried...by far!

Tales from the receptionist - initiative is my middle name!

Today at work.....DISASTER STRUCK!

the situation couldn't have been worse! i arrived to discover that something was wrong with the external ariel at the hostel and as a result of this the tv's were not working! this was of course a major disaster!! We were being faced with 38 angry men and no telly....i put my thinking cap on and decided that it would be a good idea to organise an activity!

The idea came to me stright away and it took me no time at all to rustle up a really impressive looking poster!

Of course, in true blue peter stlye we needed to create a "heres one i made earlier", the only problem was that we didnt have any spare socks lying around! so, using all our create powers and pulling our resourses we created our puppets.

Jeanette created bob using a plastic cup, some kitchen roll, an orange and some string.

and Taloolah is made from a latex glove , her earlings are paperclips and her hair is kitchen roll.

And at 11 o'clock....no one came to the group...

for some reason...

I havn't written for a while, ive not much to say....thats why generally i am such a quiet person.

Fear not....if you have been missing out on your sam blog fix...here is some news from me!

I have become a 24 year old, it was quite a simple transition, i didnt have to do much! It was a fun birthday, i went on an adventure! and then out with some family and friends. I recored the day in photo form on my rather spangly new camera which some of my friends really generously gifted me....and its very good. I have uploaded the photo's on facebook, but for those not on facebook...well thats a shame. I also made a video diary on my camera, really just becasue i could, it was fun, i edited it and was going to put it on youtube, but many problems did occur. If this is ever resoled i will put it on youtube and post it on my blog. Wont that be a special treat?

And my slightly good news is that i heard from Edinburgh uni this week too. I think the news is positive! Now, for those of you who are not up to date woth the sory past the highers rant.... Edinburgh decided to re-consider me when they found out that i had been to uni before (i didnt include this on my ucas form because i didnt want to be classed as a quitter! that would be bad because then they may have just thought that i would come along for a while then leave! ). So they asked for a copy of the transcripts and then said: thanks for the transcripts, we now want you to do a written piece.

So, i have to write a critical book review of Theology: The basics (Alistair E McGraph). its not to be more than 2000 words. The book came in the post yesterday, its thankfully not a giant book! I am a wee bitty stressed though. Mainly because i have never written a book review of a non-fictional book before (although dad reckons its fiction...sigh!) so i hope i dont mess it up. It would have been really handy for them to have sent me a marking scheme, then i would know exactly what to include. However, i will just try my best. I can't do anymore than that!

Thats really all my news, except that im definately getting smaller all the time! this is deliberate. When im very skinny i will write a book about my sucess! It will not involve only eating seeds! and lots of credit will go to kicklates!

oh p.s we went ice skating the other day, as a fun recreational activity! it was good, i can skate well considering the long gap of not skating. Murryfield has not change one bit in 12 years!! it could do with a lick of paint! Might go again soon, if you wanna come?

One for the rant list...

So, Edinburgh Uni contacted me this week. They informed me that 6 of my 8 highers do not count as they were more than 2 years ago.So they won't be offering me a place!

This makes me feel a little bit annoyed!! No-one ever informed me that these qualifications had a use by date.

Saturday, February 09, 2008

WOO HOO!

I was very excited to read this article in the evening news today!

We have been having a constant gripe about the dog poo in Granton, because it is rediculous. People just dont bother to clean up after thier dogs! And the kids are always getting it on their shoes, so when they come in for clubs....they get it on our carpet!

I hope this actually does make a difference! Im so sick of the poo! We have to constantly look at the ground as we wlak round our community, its just not safe not to!!

It is a bit pathetic that this whole initiative needs to be put in place to solve this problem really.People should take responcibility for there pets, and have respect for there local area! How hard is it to clean up after your dog? Not hard!

To whom it may concern,

There definately something wrong with the staff room fridge! I dont trust it one bit! If I make a cup of tea I always smell the milk and it often smells really weird. Sometimes it smells sour and when I ask in the kitchen they tell me it hasn't been there long enough to smell sour. The other day it smelled like bleach, which i supposed must have been because someone had cleaned the fridge or something. Today the milk smells like bananas. I dont understand how it can smell of banana's because there are no banana's in the fridge, and there is nothing banana flavoured. I asked the chef for a second opinion and she agreed that it smelled of banana's but this didn't seem to concern her, even though there was no explanation for this. I really need my own fride, and my own milk!

What I'm really trying to say is this...I think someone is trying to poison me. I don't know who and I dont know why!

If I die...its your responcibility to let the police know that they must do tests on the staff room fridge!

Thank you for you attention to this matter.

Yours Sincerely,

Samantha Gibb
Receptionist.

The sausage dog

Sometimes i write little poems, im weird like that!

Yesterday I wrote this limerick about poppet:

He’s quite a funny little dog,
His body’s shaped just like a log,
He’s cute, people think,
But his breath does stink,
One time he encountered a frog.

A hobby of his is to scratch on the door,
And licking my face if I lie on the floor,
And oh how he mocks,
By stealing my socks,
Still, I could not love him more.

The name of this terror is poppet,
He runs about like a rocket,
He swims like a seal,
It adds to his appeal,
When ground isn’t dry he gets mocket.

We live in a strange world....

So...aparently if you own a bank and want to install an air conditioning unit which will be situated on a flat roof you need to apply for planning permission, and as part of this process, you have to send 126 letters to tell the neighbours(some of which would have no view of it) just incase they might have a problem with it!

anyway...poppet was popular in falkirk today! I dont know if you have seen the bank of scotland/or halifax? advert with the sausage dog? anyway a girl came up to me and was gushing over the fact that she had seen the picture on the bill board but she had never seen a real one...seriously it was like she was actually star-struck. poppet looks identical to the one on the picture, ive seen them but i think that one has been digitally elongated!

Dad and i stopped for lunch in linlithgow on the way back, we sat outside (even though it was cold because poppet was with us) a lovely cafe and i discovered (by reading a sticker on a window) that linlithgow is a fair trade town! im very impressed by that! seemingly a town can be granted this status if enough shops and restaurants etc stock fairtrade products. Maybe one day Edinburgh will join that club and get stickers to say Edinburgh is a fairtrade capital city....that would look good!

Fairtrade fortnight is coming up actually, i found out tonight. We will be doing fair trade things in Granton with the kids. An we might get them to go and pester some shops to stock fair trade things.I Havn't pestered thorntons for a while..the diet has its downside. Maybe i will go in and ask them to stock chocolate which is fair trade/fat free/sugar free/and with no artificial colours or aspartame....hmmm, maybe not.

Saturday, January 26, 2008

Ive replaced you already...

Ive got some new links which I have added because I may as well really.

post secret is quite a strange blog but its quite good. People send in homemade postcards with a secret on it to the people that run the blog and they put their secrets on the internet. Here is an example of one...

Elizabeth McGinnis is the local labour counciller for my area. So im spying on her.

Matt Little often has something interesting to share.

The nanolog is something i read quite often even although i dont know the guy that writes it (and I must be the only person in Scotland that doesn't - seriously)because he often has fun pictures to look at.

Chris Hinton has a new blog.

Welcome new links. May you update regularly and not end up being deleted!

I dont wanna....blog about it...

Today I decided that enough was enough!

I have given these people every oportunity to stop this from happening but it has got to the stage where it cant go on like this any longer.

Every time I click on a link of a blog which has been abandoned a little bit of me dies inside....well not really but it is annoying to see the same thing for over a year in some cases.

So I am officially saying goodbye to these bloggers:
Anneleen
Beth
Chris
Granton (yeah i guess Im probably partly to blame for this. If I decide to do an update I will re-add it)
Hannah
James (who was my origional blog pal : ( so sad!!)
Rosie
Ross

So long then.

If you do happen to update your blog and are saddened at this sudden deletion (a real word?) let me know and I will put you back on.

I may add some more links of other blogs I read if I get round to it...just becasue the place seems a bit deserted now.

Friday, January 25, 2008

Not a lot of people know that...

Im am actually a big fan of the beach boys! yes...(and if you should ever annoy me so much that i get very mad at you all you have to do is play "dont worry baby" and i cant not smile and/or sing along and probably forgive you)

I buy heat magazine every week but never really read it. Sometimes i do the crossword by looking up all the answers on the internet. I do find the tv guide useful though and the book/film reviews. And i like that there are not 12 pages of cosmetic surgery adverts at the back like some other magazines.

I now have an unlimited cinema card and have been to the cinema 10 times so far this month. i have seen one film twice becasue i went with different people. Antony and i saw three films in one day. And im very excited to do a monthly one word film review blog post on here. what a geek! Also i have stuck all of my cinema tickets in to my diary so that i can keep an eye on whether my cinema card is worth the monthly subscription.(loser!)

I dont eat after 7:30pm. This is part of a new healthy eating regime(well it is january), which includes not eating chocolate! The strange thing is that i am enjoying the whole experience which might sound strange, i write done everything i eat and i think the reason i like it is becasue i am a bit of a control freak.

I cried watching waterloo road this week! and i often cry watching rediculous soap operas...i dont know why! I cry at some films too. Im not as bad as my mum yet (thank goodness....she cries at extreme make over home edition!) but I think Stephanie actually thought i had a mental health problem when i cried soooo much at the end of "The Notebook". I was so emotional that the nexy day i creid again when i thought about it.

I have a weird crush on Allan Davies (from Johnathon Creek) and have done since i was about 13.

Im a bit sad really.

The Rant List...

This is a new technique I am using to vent my frustration!

It really has worked wonders for my mental health and has prevented me from doing something regretful, like going on a homicidal killing spree.

I would urge you to consider the rant list technique if you have ever felt that all the little niggles are getting too much and your brain is finding it a little bit too crowded to allow you to function as you would normally. Tell tale signs to look out for include; putting your shoes on the wrong feet and not noticing for two hours, brushing your teeth with hand cream or becoming so tired that you can’t even stay awake for a whole episode of torchwood.)

The technique of the rant list is simple. You take a pen and a piece of paper and you make a list of everything that is currently annoying you. By writing down the annoyance is expressed and doesn’t need to take up so much brain space. And this can be anything, big or small, if it is annoying you write it down. I guarantee you will feel the urge to kill shrinking as you let it all out.

So whether your communal stair smells of urine, you only lost 1 lb on your diet this week, or even if some idiot came to your Grandad’s funeral and stole your phone…just write it down and all the bitterness will go away.

Today, I feel only love for all mankind…

The end is nigh...

2007 is almost finished...that was quick!

Seemingly if the years start passing by quickly it signifies that one must be getting old. I beleive one might be, so one is for some reason speaking as one might speak if one was, infact, the Queen.

Funnily enough this year I watched the Queens speech for the first time as far as i can remember. We had to watch it at the request of our guests Fred and Audrey (Mum's new in-laws. Oh yeah, Mum got married. The Queens speech didnt really inspire me very much. Mind you it wasn't worse than Duncans speech (the "best man").

Disappointed with the Christmas number 1. Its on in the background right now, its pants! The origional version is good! If you would like to listen to a decent version listen to Mariah Cairey and Whitney Houston, its on the soundtrack to a film called "The prince of Egypt". It seems that the Christmas number one will continue to be dominated by the x-factor winner. It kind of takes the fun/surprise element out of it. And could they not make it a bit more christmassy? Obviously not.

Im a bit of a Christmas moan this year! but I do have some Christmas highlights too! The midnight service was good, it was led by Mary Morrison and I have discovered that I actually have a talent!! I can do Mary Morrison impressions!! Another highlight was the spur of the moment shopping trip on boxing day (in order to escape Andrews slide show of peru and another few hours of bargain hunt/cash in the attic/car booty). And I enjoyed my third year (maybe fourth? a relatively new tradition anyway) of carol singing in the royal infirmary, even though the majority of the wards were rediculously warm. Staying over night at Antony's was also fun - even though santa delivered my stocking to the wrong house : )

here is a festive photo of poppet for you.

The best breakfast in the world!

I have just decided that i have now experienced breakfast perfection! And it came in the form of this....

... A cinnamon and raisen bagel(toasted) with a little butter and orange blossom honey!

Yum!

its begining to look a lot like christmas...

OK!!! i know its a bit early! The thing is....i had a big pile of wrapped presents sitting in the lounge with nowhere to go...so i thought the christmas tree would be a good way to give them a home and not feel like the lounge is cluttered! and hannah has decorated the ikea men with candy canes because they dont go with the tree colour scheme!

we do need some more purple baubles though....its pretty though isnt it?

And!!! the christmas tree is actually older than me! fact!

I have also created an ipod playlist for christmas which i am sure will be used to death over the next few weeks...but i dont care because i love it! (although not so much that i would listen to "fairytale of newyork" on repeat for a rediculous length of time)

de ja vu....

grandad is in hospital again, this is pretty much the same time as last year. he had an operation yesterday which will hopefully mean that his wound that was infected will heal properly. I worried that the operation would be a bit much for him because he has lost so much weight but the doctors seemed to think he would be ok, and so far so good. he was in good spirits when i saw him, except that he was shaking a lot and made me laugh at the nickname he gave one of the nurses( which was very apt) and his response to my news about applying to university.
Grandad: so, girl, whats new with you?
me: not much, ive finished my application for uni
grandad: is that for your religious stuff?
dad: divinity!
grandad : good god!
everyone *laughs*
me: well indeed!

yeah, i hope i get accepted. i would be sad if i dont, i got an email from them the other day that said that the decision could take a few weeks...or could take until mid-march!

also, im ill today! im off work! i always feel bad about this and think people will assume im having a skive! im not debilitated, ive just got a bit of a cold i think, but my sinus' are blocked and i dont have my normal chirpy cheery receptionist voice and also im pretty much overwhelmed by snot(im practically a snot monster!) and i cant sleep because i keep coughing so much!

Have you got yours yet?

No....Im not certainly NOT talking abouit the limited edition of cadbury's wispa.

Christmas is just around the corner you know! And Christmas is definately not a time to take off your ethical socks!

I dont know if anyone else has noticed this but at Christmas there seems to be lots of chocolate around. And this can be hard for those of us who have gone fairtrade for the sake of the people making the chocolate!

Dont turn your back on your good intentions for the sake of convienience or saving money. Fair trade (devine)advent calenders are available (hooray!!) online and in some shops.

Mine is in the post!

Also, if you are reading this and you were considering getting me chocolate for Christmas. Please dont give me non-fairtrade chocolate. I will say "you shouldn't have" and actually mean it! Gifts of fairtrade chocolate/other surprises will be greatfully accepted!

Car banter

Last night we went to see a charming film called stardust. For those of you who automatically read that as sarcastic, it wasn’t I did actually think it was charming!

On the way to drop off the troop we discussed phobias, Antony basically accused me of being an irrational-fear-aholic. The conversation ended up being quite funny, and the joke wasn’t on me!

Ant : But Sam, you can’t just monopolise all the phobias, its not fair on everyone else.
Me: I don’t have them all, maybe if I am monopolising I only want the train stations. I’m not the only one with fears anyway, I’ve got my balloons, wind turbines and now driving, but you have got snakes and Steph is getting more agoraphobic by the day!
Steph: Hardly! I’m braver than any of you when it comes to spiders !
Ant, Hannah, Ben, Me : HA HA HA HA HA HA
Me: Steph, that would be arachnophobia.
Ant,Hannah, Ben, Me: HA HA HA HA HA HA
Steph : Oh no!
Ant,Hannah, Ben Me, Steph: HA HA HA HA HA

Ants Monster bash.

Antony had a party. We all got dressed up! here are some pictures. Hannah and I are "conjoined twin zombie brides. Ant is a scary-ass clown. Ben Webb is Freddy Kruger(he also looks like he is on stilts but its just cos Steph is so short....honestly, and Ben is only about 5 foot). Mum is a witch or spider web or something. Thats my dad dressed as a skeleton. Steph dressed as a pretty unscary fairy. Oh and the guy in the background is heads up Harry.

I just found out...

That driving phobia does exist AND its quite common.

there are people who will hypnotise you to love it!

Retraction...

Antony and my Dad (and I think Steph jumped on the band wagon) have requested that i retract my statement regarding Jerry McCann on the grounds that it is invalid and they feel that I am accusing Mr McCann of something with no concrete evidence.

So.

The words i used were "Thats interesting" and "hmmm". I would like to publically apologise for these words. I would like to change them to "thats uninteresting" and "sigh".

Thank you for your attention.

thats interesting...

just watching the news, jerry McCann was making his back to work press statement, he said:

"My wife and i always said that i would go back to work when it got to, erm, if it got to six months."

hmmmm....

Really????

This is a very long list of “interesting” facts. I have no evidence to support any of them as I found them on random internet pages! Don’t start to read this unless you have a while to waste. (the bit in brackets is my thoughts about these astounding(ly unfounded) facts)

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days, you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.
(- It might hurt your throat a bit! Actually if you were continuously shouting you wouldn’t be able to eat or drink and would therefore starve or dehydrate!)

Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.
(- I would say its probably more fun than weight watchers!)

Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people do.
(– Hannah, don’t be too alarmed, but you’re a gonner!)

The ant can lift 50 times its own weight, can pull 30 times its own weight and always falls over on its right side when intoxicated.
(- Did they find this out shooting a budweiser advert?)

Polar bears are left handed.
(- So they all die 9 years before they should! That’s a tradgedy!)

The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.
(- And yet it spends all its time at the bottom of the tank eating other fishes poo!)

A cockroach will live nine days without it's head, before it starves to death.
(- This seriously bothers me! Firstly because its scary and secondly because its completely disgusting)

Butterflies taste with their feet.
(- it must be a real drag when they step on dogs dirt!)

An ostrich's eye is bigger than it's brain.
(what? no no! im going to research this furthur....no im not!but i dont beleive it!)

Dentists have recommended that a toothbrush be kept at least 6 feet away from a toilet to avoid airborne particles resulting from the flush.
(- um, in this case I will have to place my toothbrush just outside the bathroom door from now on!)

No piece of paper can be folded in half more than 7 times.
(- Its true!.Even really big bits of paper! Try this at home! But get adult supervision. Risk of paper-cut: high)

Donkeys kill more people annually than plane crashes.
(-Bad donkey!)

The king of hearts is the only king without a moustache.
(Now theres a thing….I wonder why that is? I wonder if he once tried to grow one and the other kings laughed at him for having a bum fluff moustashe?)

The first owner of the Marlboro Company died of lung cancer.
(-Must mention this to grandad)

Michael Jordan makes more money from Nike annually than all of the Nike factory workers in Malaysia combined.
(- I have no trouble believing this….and it disgusts me!)

It is possible to lead a cow upstairs...but not downstairs.
(- Useful to know, if I hadn’t known this I may have ended up with a cow in my flat forever! Crisis averted!)

On average, 100 people choke to death on ball-point pens every year.
(I wonder how many are stabbed to death with fountain pens! Perhaps the government should issue licences to those who can prove they can handle stationary responsibly!)

Elephants are the only animals that can't jump.
(- I think someone once said that white men cant jump either!)

Women blink nearly twice as much as men.
(- I think the extra blinking might occur whilst applying mascara!)

A snail can sleep for three years.
(- So can my brother)

The electric chair was invented by a dentist.
(- Was it a failed first attempt at a general anaesthetic?)

TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard.
(I have time to spare later. I will find a longer word!)

As of 2006, 200million blogs were left without updates.
(- Yip….)

Camels milk has 10 times more iron than cows milk.
(Im got going to try it to find out….they might have spat in it!)

Please carry on with you day….

No weddings and 4 funerals...

"oh Sam...get rid of that picture, I look like my brother and surely you know thats NOT a good thing" - My Aunty Margaet, a few weeks ago.

The lack of blogging has been partly to do with not having anything very happy to share. Its been quite a difficult time for my family in the last month losing family members and friends of the family. My Aunty Margaret and her brother (my uncle) Tom both passed away this month. Meeting relatives i had no recollection off and then seeing them twice in one month under very similar circumstances has been very strange. The funeral ceremony is becomming a little to familiar for my liking.(with no particular mention of "All things bright and beautiful" of course)

I guess we believe different things about what happens when we die, for that reason we all deal with the death of those close to us in diferent ways. And some of us don't deal with it at all.

Even if we dont believe in the concept of heaven there are certain things we do know: in death they are no longer in contant pain, they no longer struggle with confusion, the worrying is over, they no longer feel like a burden (even although we never thought of them as such) and that they are now at peace.

We are of course at a loss, there is a definate void that we are very aware off, particularly now, we no longer have them around to create new memories, or to tell us new stories, but we will always have the old memories and the old stories.

I'll be ready!

Heres an idea of something you could do in your spare time. Pop off to matalan and buy an outfit resembling a life guard uniform, go to crammond beach and run around pretending to be on baywatch and miming along to the theme song, and why not take your friend antony along who will video the whole thing and then edit it and send it to your sister in america as a lovely personal gift....what a nice idea...and then, without your permission, ant might just put it on the internet for the rest of us to see too!!

THIS IS HILARIOUS!!!

The wonder of mugs....

After appreciating fully the hilarity of an "ultima hold-ups" mug this morning, i decided that i would furthur explore the world of mugs, knowing that there must be a lot to discover about them!

journey with me!!

These mugs i found interesting as they all represent different relgions, who knew that with faith as small as a mug you can minister the good news of your chosen religion without even having to speak over a friendly cup of tea!

These mugs, im sure you will agree are extremely practical!! However, i think there may be some flaws in there designs. The first is not actually a mug at all, its an i-pod speaker....this is practical in that it plays your tunes when you want to play them, however, i cant think of one single reason why you might want a speaker in the shape of a mug? it seems likely that if it has no ipod in it some unsuspecting thirty person might pick it up and fill it with water, then it would be less practical as a speaker. The second is a plant pot and a mug, i would not use it as both, maybe make a decision early on, because its just dirty to drink out of a mug that ever had dirt and bugs in it! and the third mug is a mug which is also a computer mouse. i think that anyone who has ever destroyed a keyboard (or three) as a result of spilling a drink on one will know that it is not a good idea to have drinks too near a computer, never mind being part of one!

These mugs annoy me. They are mugs that annoying people at work might have to show off!! The first is a self stirring mug, you press a button and it stirs itelf....its just lazy! how heavy is a teaspoon for goodness sake! The second is a mug which is for people who dont beleive in sharing! there is a whole in the bottom bit, which the owner along can fill with a special key so that no-one else will use it. Meany!!

These mugs are an example of the highly impractical mugs which many of us recieve at christmas which are a complete waste of money becasue it is nearly impossible to manouve your mouth in a way to actually be able to drink out of them. Both of these mugs are of snakes, the one which is really stupid is the one with the head coming out of the middle....they are just stupid!

I leave you now with a selection of really bad, tacky mugs which i think are funny and horrible....they would never be seen anywhere near my kitchen!...enjoy

Steph got the looks!

So last week we went to the safari park,on arriving at the safari park steph commented that she had a feeling that the schools in stirling were not on summer holidays yet, just as a group of uniformed children walked past,i commented that i had no idea how she came to that conclusion, and she got annoyed at me for making her feel stupid. We had a conversation about a stupid thing she said when she was young which was hilarious...ask her about this, she will know what you mean!
yeah so anyway we were sitting waiting on a bird of prey show to begin and stephanie occupied herself by completing the childrens quiz sheet(yes,Steph aged 17) from the guide book. Steph looked confused at something
Me: Have you finished your quiz sheet?
Steph: almost, im stuck on one of these "who am i" questions.
Me: well what is it?
Steph: i dont want to say it in case its really easy and i look stupid
Me: just say it
Steph: ok, I can go for days without a drink of water, who am i? A - a camel or B - a Rhino
Me and Johnathon: ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Steph: grrr(and evil look), shut up!! is it a camel then?

bless her : )

these are a few of my favourite...words

Being strange often leads me to do strange things. When I’m tired apparently I act even stranger than I normally do. Recently, after returned from a weekend away I decided to write down a list of some of my favourite words. I will share these with you .This list is not exhaustive, and is in no particular order.

• Bedraggled
• Coherent
• Ambiguous
• Onomatopoeia
• Obnoxious
• Shuttlecock
• Decomposed
• Falafel
• Omnipotent
• Katamari
• Hoodwinked
• Complacent

If you can write a small story containing all of these words I may give you a prize!

PSI (poo scence investigation)

poppet will swallow anything that will fit in his mouth!

he was a bit wabbit last night but is fine today! except that he has really bad wind! he is a little stinker!

in his poo this morning i noticed....electrical wire, brisells from his toothbrush(...hannah informed me that he ate the whole head of it), a small piece of plastic and a small bit of material(which could be either part of a sock or part of my duvet cover grrrr)

why is he such a dumb-ass (apart from the blatent in-breeding i mean....i thought i would save you the bother of making that comment!) its worse than that, he is just soooo stupid its unbelievable!!

i love him so much!!

i was so sad that he was going to die last night, he couldn't even walk properly last night...because of indigestion?!! anyway, he still needs to go to the vet, because only one of his testicles is visable so something might need done about that! dont tell him i told you about that though, he gets embarressed about it, thinks it makes him less of a man!

a view from the bus...

from the bus last night i saw a man in a garage...he was dancing, not just that but he was dancing in time to the music that i was listening to on my i-pod! phonominal!

also, there were twins at the bus stop, not just twins though, they were really really old twins. same old lady hairstyle, same coat, same smile! was nice!

and....a man running for the bus, but not just any man, it was a bus driver!actually he was THE bus driver about to take over form the last one! that was funny!

other observations included a crowd of 20ish men all dressed as borat, a similar sized group of women all dressed as fairies and one old man in a kilt singing loudly with no teeth!

a series of unfortunate events...

In the last week...
  • Poppet has run away
  • i have had a run in with the police
  • i had a car accident

ive had enough now!

to explain( if you are at all interested...) My dad was looking after poppet while we were all away at roots( hooray) but at some point on monday poppet ran away (boo) but a little girl found him at asda (hooray) and took him home to her mum (hooray?) and the mum phoned he police who knew he was missing as my dad had already reported him missing (hooray) so poppet came back (hooray!) however, since then poppets behaviuor has been stange! he is off his food(boo), and on tuesday night when the teenagers came round he was so scared he ran and hid under the table and wet himself (boo). I think he is suffering from post traumatic stress. hopefully he will be ok soon (hooray) otherwise we will need to start putting valium in his food (hooray...wait boo!) Also, it may be of note that in order to get to asda he had to cross at least 2 busy roads! Thank God that he didnt get killed (hooray)

ok so the run in with the police...yeah well i was going along the road and ended up being in the greenway aparently so this policeman knocked on my window (boo) and told me off (boo) so i told him that i didnt know that it was a green way, and he asked me how i couldn't have known this, i sadi that i qwas confused becasue it WASNT ACTUALLY GREEN!!! and i also told him that i avoid rush hour normally and i looked really really sorry!so he said that he would let me off with a warning (hooray!) and i escaped a £30 fine (hooray)

and as for the car accident (boooooooo!!) well, this morning i left tranent (mummies house) and went down the road to go on the A1, except the rain was bad (boo) and the car skidded on the corner(boo) and the car went up on a kirb and then over to the other side of the road and it was very frightening (boo!) and the car started to make a klump klump noise and so i had to stop but i couldnt turn round and get up to my mum's so i was pretty much stranded. (boo) cried hysterically, calmed down a bit, told her what happened, she sent andrew down to help me, phoned my work, left a message with the nightshift(NB no-one phoned me back to see if i was alright...even 2 and a half hours later...i work for a christian organisation...could they care less...apparently not! apparently when i phoned in again they were "just about to phone me" (BOOOOOOO!!) Phoned Hannah (Yeah hi Han, i crashed your car) (eek), she was not mad (hooray). Hannah phoned the insurance people to organise the tow truck. This took a long time to come.(boo) and mr tow truck had very minimal chat and he seemed completely bewildered as to what to do (does this situation not occur fairly often in his line of work, no?) (boo)He informed me that he was glad that i really did require his help becasue he was called out at 5 am this morning to change a tire for an 18 year old boy who couldn't be bothered doing it himself because it was raining (LOL) Arrived at the garage and hannah was there with a bag full of breakfast pastries for no apparent reason other than she thought the sugar would help(hooray). The garage man was very nice to us...and said it should be fixed by later on today (hooray)

Im now no longer burdened (hooray) except financially! (boo) but i will be ok! The parasympathetic branch of my autonomic nervous system has taken over from the sympathic branch renewing my body to a state of homeopasis.(psychology revision! hooray...exam soon...boo!) All is well. (hooray)

for now...

things that i didn't realise before that i like about my grandad

...he is funny! This goes largely un-noticed but could it be that i inherited my sense of humour(which some don't get) from him. Very Sarcastic....(very intelligent then!)

...his story about the roaring 40's! This has now officially become THE story that Grandad tells! so, the story is that he missed the lesson in school about the roaring fortys and when he did go to school he had to write an essay about it. So he wrote an essay about cowboys and indians in the 1940's and handed it in....then he got the belt. His essay was meant to be about gale force winds!

...he calls me "girl", but i have realised that its not just becasue he has forgotten my name, its a term of endearment!

...he has key phrases which he uses often,in a tourettes kind of way, which in my mind likens him to father jack, but not really! Such as "Your Grandad's buggered" "Im just going to have a wee nip" and "ack". And recently "greyhound", this is what he calls poppet!

...he knows everything you need to know about horse racing, cars, the history of everything and every answer to every crossword! FACT!

...He does not do small talk! If faced with a small talk situation he will a)leave the room or b)send you out the room (and i have witnessed this, im serious, he sends people to the kitchen "aye well away ben and get a cuppa tea then")

...He refers to his siblings as Sister Kate, Sister Margaret and Brother Tom for no apparent reason, which is quite kitch i think

...He is wise! He imparts wisdom about the importance of a)learning more when your listening to what goes on around you instaed of talking and B)never ever getting involved with money lenders.

...This list is not exhaustive...: )

more tales from the receptionist....seen as you are clearly GRIPPED by them.

Yesterday i was chatting to this guy at the desk and happened tomention a time when i was young and was left to my own devices wandering around a golf course in a sort of foresty tree type area. Anyway, there were lots of bunnies wandering around and i noticed one bunny getting chased by a cat, then the cat started biting the bunny, so, as a friend of bunnies all over the world i walked over and picked up the cat and threw it, and it banged into a tree....(it didnt die!) and the bunny ran off limping.

Why i shared this story, or why i even remembered it happening is a mystery! anyway, the guy went off and wrote down a poem which he later gave to me...it end with a lovely sentiment!

My little neice came up to me a tear welled in her eye,
And asked me what would happen when her pet rabbit died.
I told her we'd get a shoebox and put the rabbit inside,
And bury him under the swing that stands next to the slide.
And then we'd have a party the best she'd ever seen,
With party hats and sausage rolls and jelly and ice-cream.
All the time i told her this all she could say was wow,
Why wait until the day he dies lets kill the bunny now.
special huh...

The receptionist...

the phones at work are rubbish, they dont really work properly and to talk to people i need to put it on speakerphone most of the time! Normally if someone says something stupid i can cope and carry on with the conversation but when other people hear the conversation and start laughing histerically it makes it hard to keep my composure!

for example....

Me: Ok, could you give me your name
Man on phone: its William bleblooblabla *name i couldnt make out*
Me: sorry, whats your surname?
Man on phone: bleblooblabla
ME: can you spell your surname?
MAn on phone: Yes
*silence*
Me: sorry, i meant can you spell it out for me?
*john laughing histerically in background*
Me: also laughing but trying not to!!

Friday, February 23, 2007

so i saw this guy...

...on richard and judy last night (which i NEVER normally watch, kevin was in control of the telly, we also watched supermarket sweep...) and he has been diagnosed with cancer, he has refused chemo as it would only prolong his life by a month and would be quite horrible. So he has planned a wake for himself before he dies to say goodbye to all his long lost friends etc.

how weird would that be?

anyway, heres a thought for the weekend... if this was your last remaining time on planet mars/earth (depending on where you are reading this from) what would you make sure you did/what would you probably not bothr doing/who would you make sure you got to see/ who would you ask to look after your sausage dog?

anyway....have a fun day....it may be your last one...poppet and i are off on an adventure!

On relationships...

Having a conversation with my auntie in the car yesterday about the current love life situation...

Me:Men are just a waste of time anyway, I realise this, i've decided that im either going to become a nun or a lesbian and have nothing more to do with them
Beanie: hmmm
*a few moments of silence*
Beanie: Your not serious about the nun thing are you?
Me: No...wait,i'm not serious about the lesbian thing either!
Beanie: Oh no! that didn't come out right, i didnt mean that...
*laugher or something a bit like laugher but not as energetic*

The picture is me shhhhhing her and the other woman is dawn, Dawn is her other god mother , they thought they would go modern and not bother with a male counter part for me...i think this is wise....they are a waste of time anyway! lol! im bitter, or something!

anyway, yeah i asked sharon if i could dress as a fairy, then i could be a fairy godmother, she was up for it but i decided it wouldnt go down too well with the sensible people there!

googlewhacking

so this guy at college was telling me today about the concept of a googlewhack. aparently, if you put two words into google and get only one webpage, you have a googlewhack. this is not an easy task! ive tried for the last half an hour....loser eh! anyway, so this guy (Dave Goreman) has written a book about his experiences finding 10 googlewhacks...how random.

go and googlewhack, let me know if you find any!

i think i might need some cilit bang!

the latest casualty left a stain on the wall...

Sunday, September 24, 2006

whah hah hah!!

Well, well, well, it loks like i have beaten my enemy (myself) and managed to avoid procrastination and finish my essay 2 days (YES 2 DAYS!!!)before its due. To many of you this may seem not impressive, but this is not normal for me! I have never (seriously) started an essay previous to the day before it was due before. infact, in 1st year at uni i did 4 assignments in one night! how stupid was that...thank you pro plus. Im still having a word count problem, theres too many. i intend on telling the tutor that i wil not comply to the word count, and am standing up to her authority as it goes against my personal beleif that i need more words than i was given permission to use. Funnily enough the essay was on conformity and obidience...you'd never guess would you? you think im a loser...i'll go now!

Please note : i do not recomend the use of pro plus, infact i think it should be made illegal, its bad! So were those assignments! how did i pass? what an idiot!

Friday, September 22, 2006

ive rediscovered an old hobby

Its called procrastination...it can take many forms!

gennerally i find other important things to do before doing what im actually meant to do. i.e yesterday i thought about starting an essay, instead i started knitting a scarf!

also, if you are thinking about becomming a procrastinator, can i suggest myspace...

is there anything in revelation about a plauge of giganic spiders?

...well if there is, i would like to declare that the end is nigh!

not one, not two but three, yes three, of these massive killer spiders (not scientific name) have been spotted and disposed of in our flat in the last 24 hours. this is soooo not normal.

my first encounter last night was with spider one (who actually was spider two technically) , spider one came running across my bedroom floor. To prevent the enevitable swallowing of spider one i took action against him and killed him using an old edition of heat magazine!

This morning i got up, i sat in the lounge and was watching the hollyoaks omnibus (did you see it? tonnes of people died in a fire, it was quite intense!! anyway...) and looked at an empty glass sitting on the table which contained another giant spider, i assumed hannah must have put it in there but couldnt work out why she didnt dispose of it. when i asked her about it she knew nothing about it (how???? seriously, how did it get in the glass)and quickly put it on the windowsill and closed the window. with number two out of the way hannah informed me that she had encountered another befor eshe went out last night

spider three (or one cronologically) was in the bath hannah put the shower on until it went down the drain and put the plug in, so far she has been too scared to take the plug out.

after puttiing spidr two (or three) on the windowsill hannah informed me of he two new house rules

1. windows will not be opened at any time
2. all plugholes will be covered at all time

this she hopes will stop anymore spiders getting in. i imagine they could probably get in through the hole in the livingroom ceiling, the damp attic is probably absolutely riddled with them (and , by the way they can live up to four years, hooray!) but im not going to tell her that as she may worry.i personally think we should invest in a small blow torch, just to be prepared! im not willing to live in fear anymore!!

the other stange thing, which makes me think that these are more than just spiders, is that the spider that han put on the windowsill hasnt moved , its still there (and yes it is alive) just waiting for us to open the window so it can come back in!! its now been there for over 6 hours!! we thought it was just enjoying the sunshine before but its dark now and its still there...waiting!

EDIT
Spider :number 4 (12/09/06)
Location : Hannah's fluffy bedroom wall
Action taken : killed
Method : Squashed by bible companion

Spider : number 5 (13/09/06)
Location : sam's bedroom wall(bubble one) near ceiling
Action taken : Killed
Method: standing on wonky chair and squashing with unused notebook

Spider : number 6 (17/09/06)
Location : Bath
Action taken : discarded, may have drowned to death
Method: Shower used to cause spider to go down the drain

its been a long day!

starting to worry that it looks obvious that im very bored if i update all 4 of my blogs in one day!

i think my mental health may be deteriorating! i had a chicken baguette at tea time and was convinced (more and more with every bite) that it tasted of fish!! i hate fish! Why would chicken taste of fish? Has quorn completely screwed up my taste buds so much that i dont even know what chicken tastes like anymore?? or am i delusional?do you even care?

Thursday, August 31, 2006

...what can i say, i was bored, and concerned that my brain might stop working if i didnt use it soon, not that i have really learned anything yet!!!

i dont have anything nice to say at the moment about the new campus or the way it is being run, but i will say this : "you can tell it's telford"!

you really can!

ok...but seriously

...Money is disgusting!! minging! filthy! Horrible

Today, i came to a shocking realisation. Someone handed me 50p earlier, this person was perhaps not the cleanest person in the world and i immediately felt the need to wash my hands. Ive never been all like "oh no the germs are going to get me" but...if you think about it, you just dont know where your money has been!! Think of all the unwashed hands that may have touched it. There is a penny in my purse from 1986...that is 10 years worth of germilation!

p.s sometimes children put money in their mouths!! How are these children still alive?

p.p.s according to my colleuge at work, they(who are they?) have done tests on some random bank notes and found that quite a high percent have traces of cocaine on them. So its probably better not to giive children bank notes becasue if they put them in their mouths they could get high as well as sick.

p.p.s.s I need to go and wash my hands now...becasue i realsie that this whole germ transferance can also be true for the shared computor keyboard im using right now (on a smaller germ scale obv)

p.p.p.s.s Dont worry, im not about to start wearing rubber gloves at all times! That would be silly!

Where have you been all my life??

I realise there that you were always there, but i was blind to you, i didnt apriciate your hidden qualities, i didnt give you a chance. Im so glad that you have finally become a part of my live, After so many years our paths have finally crossed and you have brought me nothing but joy. I know that you will always be there for me when i need you and for that i will cherish you always. Beetroot...i love you! (esp since you are practically fat free and contain minimal calories.)

Hooray!!!

A lesson in life...

I learned a valueable lesson about perseverance from a small oddly coloured ladybird this week. The lady bird obviously needed to get to Glasgow, but knew that to fly that far would take a long time and may be more than the little thing could handle. So the clever ladybird decided to attach itself to the outside of the citylink bus and hang on, against all odds, against harsh winds and rain, at variable speeds, until it reached its destination. It was quite amazing to watch it, it knew that any sudden movements could be its last and was cautiously moving one leg at a time and the rest remained tucked under its shell, a tiny-intellegant-creative genius.

Who knows where it will travel next...

Saturday, April 15, 2006

its all too much part 2 - Sam on the road

its hard to drive when wind turbines are visible.(it gets me into trouble and things get shouted at me like "put your hands back on the steering wheel...both hands...open your eyes for Gods sake"

emergency stops...are actually really scary!

theoretically, the theory test cant be failed if you know all the questions that they can ask you, so that bit is fine, however, this hazard perception thing is like impossible, its stupid, i clicked at every hazard and still haven't passed it once. its annoying, and the ones in the dark you cant even see.

added pressure that im expected to pass by june....i think not

every now and then i get these brain freeze things when i actually cant even begin to work out what im meant to do next. like when traveling down a hill the car suddenly seems to be going to fast, and it doesnt seem to click that pressing the brake might be a good idea.

day dreaming can kill!!

some people are mean to me just because im a learner...how cruel is that!!

right and left have new meanings....up and down! and now i look at which light comes on to figure out what way im actually going.

sometimes when i overtake lots of parked cars in a row, i forget which side of the road im actually meant to be driving on.

im improving though, apparently...

A week of adventures and stories(highlights)

I've got some new history since I last blogged.

 I’ve seen new places,
 I’ve met new people,
 I’ve learned new things about the world,
 I’ve found new hobbies,
 I've rediscovered neglected talents,
 I've tasted new food,
 I’ve been subjected to new diets,
 I've seen new haircuts,
 I’ve felt a new type of coldness,
 I've heard new songs,
 I had a brief relationship with a new kite before it became an ex-kite…

…It’s been a busy week.

i dont know when i am likely to get my next cup of tea

If your a psycho and you know it clap your hands

...clap, clap!

Oh dear, it transpires im a bit of a nut job. I caught myself day dreaming a wee while ago about what i would do in the event of me murdering someone...including various ways of disposing of the dead body without getting caught.

...this is a cry for help by the way!

Saturday, March 25, 2006

Im a wee bit old now!

The more observant amoung you will notice a dramatic change to the title!

Sunday, March 19, 2006

And why not?

For my entire life i have found it difficult to not sing along when i have headphones in. As a child i used to do it and was severely discouraged from those surrounding me. I still find now that occasionally the odd random note will slip out on the bus etc, much to my mortification, (wow, is that a word? what an amazing word) but generally i manage to keep it in.

Last night i got a train and it was quite late so i was the only person in the carraige. And i thought to myself, I could just sing if i wanted to, so i did, at the top of my lungs, to about 4 different songs...it was great, not the singing, but it was very fun! Who knows where i will perform next?

I recommend that if you are ever in a similar siuation that you try it! In fact, I DARE YOU!

happy families

Families are weird groups of people eh?

My family is unique, there is no doubting that, but its funny to draw comparisons and find that there are defining familyisms that unite all of us in our differences.

I find that generally mums are crazy and seem to live for the drama, dads are either over protective or absent(sometimes they fluctuate between the two, or do a swift move from one to the other depending on how badly you fail in their eyes),grandads drink lots of alcohol, grannies are lovely and spoil you lots, siblings fight verbally and physically and land eachother in trouble at any oppertunity until they grow up a bit, and without realising it , somewhere along the line they become friends.

as for the wider family... I dont think anyone really knows there whole family. The only time families gather together is for Christenings, marrages and funerals. (hatches, matches and despatches) These are painful experiences (literally, cheeck pinching anyone!!!!) and normally involve drunk people and an uncomfortable repeated conversation involving the key phrase "I remember you when you were knee high to a button/grasshopper". I dont even know there names for the most part, i wouldn't recognise them on the street.

aye...

got milk?

have you ever wondered who the first person was with the idea to milk a cow and then think "i think i might just drink that"?

Thursday, January 26, 2006

A funny thing an old person said at the bus stop this week...

"oh hi...do you know, I didn't recognise you with your clothes on"

Not been writing much on this blog recently have I? Im currently trying not to move my face because i have a face mask on it which im going to peel off in like 5 minutes.so, I nearly lost my best friend this week! When we were swimming the other day she said something realllllllly stupid, and hilariously funny (side note :Laughing whilst swimming can cause drowning and is not recommended) So i told her i was going to write it on my blog, and she said if I did that she wouldn't be my friend anymore, and after much consideration ive decided that its not worth losing her. Ive figured that I can start a list of the ridiculous things she says which will make the best list ever one day, but until that day, Ive decided to choose friendship over blogship...I think Ive made the right choice!

Im so glad that its not Christmas every day!!

Hello hello!

Christmas day was good! i expected it to be weird with it being our first Christmas as a broken family - lol - but it was actually really ok! But i dont think that guy who sang "i wish it could be Christmas everyday" really thought the whole thing through!! this would be everyday if you were me!

Start the day at midnight in church singing carols and talking to people who remember you when you were knee high to a grasshopper!

Go to your dads house to wish him a merry christmas and collect presents from various relatives

travel to your mums house in the back of a relativelty small car with presents acting as a seat belt, completely enabling you to move.

go to bed at about half 2 once everything is sorted and you have figured out where you are going to sleep

get up again at 6 and convince your brother to get up (this is no easy task)

open lots of presents in a hurry because you only have half an hour before you need to get ready!

leave the house at 7 am to go to work

go to work

get more presents

sing some carols

stand around looking random with a jug of orange juice

get a bit stressed

feel a bit bad for the people at work who are quite upset

get picked up at work at 3. Have a fun conversation with your dad who agrees that the person you were working with is an arse and tells you that he and his sister both bought grandad a digital radio for Christmas.

arrive back at your mums for Christams dinner with your family and extended family

open more presents

eat lots of food listening to the best of tony christie!!lol!

sort your presents about 60 times to make them all fit in to three carryable things

figure out how to play poker a different way (think to yourself that generally people just make it up as they go along!)

play poker with the poker set santa left in your stocking

watch eastenders

fall asleep during the 2 ronnies

Jog on the spot!

spent the best part of yesterday doing last minute Christmas shopping with my mum. the shops seemed relatively quiet but the traffic was a nightmare. We decided that everyone must be out on a last minute christmas road trip randomly driving round the streets!

So we got stuck in this big trafic jam near the harbour and saw the funniest thing... a seagull jogging on the spot!!! im serious! its little legs were going so fast.At first we just laughed then my mum told me that the reason it was doing it was so the worms would think it was raining and come up to the surface (to be eaten by a giant seagull enevitably...poor worm!), it as really funny though, and as we moved (slowly)along the road we noticed all the seagulls doing it. You really should look out for it, its hilarious! anyway...what was more funny was that my mums next sentence begin...See Sam, its that kind of thing that makes me think that there must be a God (to which i laughed! because it was like a tacky cringeworthy bit at the end of a christmas film(or mums favorite programme "touched by an angel" - hee hee))

anyway she justified her point by saying "think about it, how do they know that stamping on the ground makes worms think its raining, its only us silly humans that need to be taught to do things, people cant teach seagulls that...God made them know to do that!"

Seagulls though...watch them...it's funny!

Why me???

Why do random (and i mean really random, not your average random!) people keep talking to me! They talk to me on the bus, they randomly stop me in the street, they offer to sing to me, they tell me their life story, they ask me the answers to their crosswords, they text me by accident and then keep texting me (even when i tell them they have the wrong number-because they dont know anyone else in edinburgh, and then they text me when they get a new mobile number),they ask me directions sometimes to places that im sure dont exist, they tell me about their holiday homes and invite me to them, they ask me to marry them....

How can i become less universally approachable??

A poem i wrote at work last week...

I was maybe tired or crazy or something but composed this strange poem this last week and have just noticed the bit of paper stuck to the wall so thought i would share...you wont get the full effect becasue you cant see the accompanying doodles of Mr Sad or his pickle, so you will just have to use your imagination!!

Mr Sad

Mr Sad has a tear in his eye,
Most people don't even know why!
But, when he was little
He choked on a pickle
Which nearly caused him to die.

Why? you might ask, does this still cause him pain?
Surely this pickle has made him insane!
Ah, the truth you have sought,
He likes pickles a lot
But his attempts to eat them now are in vain.

So, what can we learn from this miserable male?
How can he teach us how best not to fail?
Well, we learn not to wallow
If a pickle we cant swallow!
And here ends this terrible tale...

Another way to make your day!

...Do things that you weren't allowed to do as a child!!!

suggestions:

1) Stay up late, stay up til tomorrow if you want, no-one will stop you!
2) spend ages on the phone, you have permission from the bill payer!
3) eat an entire advent calender on the 1st december( your flatmate may wish to assist you!)
4) eat dessert when you don't finish your main course! (or just eat dessert instead of your main course)
5) chew gum, even if you hate it, do it in spite of those teachers that gave you saturday morning detention for it (oh wait, was that just me??)
6) Get a pet, or lots depending on how restricted your parental pet control was. I.e if you were only allowed a goldfish...consider an alligator, it could live in your bath. Actually....could that work?hmmm...
7) watch horror films, not on your own though, noone is that grownup!
8) have your friends stay over(even on a school night)or better yet, live with your best friend!
9) have a duvet day without having to go to extreme measures to prove you are actually ill
10) keep a blog, read other peoples blogs and spend half your life on msn, you no longer half to pretend that you need to use the internet to help you with your homework!

remember remember!!

my whole life i have been jealous of my siblings birthdays!

Antony (HAPPY BIRTHDAY BY THE WAY!!) gets the 5th november, that fun day when we have fireworks to remember guy fawkes, who is like a back in the day terrorist of sorts. So ant normally has some sort of fireworks display, and after many years of such he is a pyrotechnision now! i have no idea how thats meant to be spelled.

Steph gets the 4th July! fireworks again! not really in this country, but its still a special day.

and what do i get?? the 24th March. A day when nothing exciting happens...a day noted in history as the day Queen Elizabeth died at the age of 69 in 1603 (according to the diary on my desk), but nothing special enough to merit fireworks!!

i propose that from now on the 24th March is international sparkle day and anyone with a birthday on sparkle day must be thrown a fancy dress party, with a fireworks display!!!!

i wish it could be halloween every day!

nightshift

nightshift sucks! im very bored! The man im working with is in the lounge snoring, ive finished my book, i dont like the taste of tea anymore, i cant speak to anybody because everyone is asleep, i hate bbc news 24, im not sure what my voice sounds like anymore, the automatic door is opening when noone is there,i have literally nothing to write about in my diary, there is only so many choclate biscuits you can eat before it isnt even fun to eat them anymore, and there are only so many famous landmarks you can make out of stationary (more specifically 4 high lighters and selotape), infact there was only one landmark...which was the eiffel tower.

...i am tired : (

a rubbish excuse for being late for work!

Han was late for work this morning! an hour after she was meant to start she came in to my room with the intention of hiding. We then spent 20 minutes coming up with an excuse as to why she was late for work. When Ali phoned i told him this...(u just have to imagine his side of the conversation!!)

Hannah is in the bathroom at the moment...yeah i think she is ok, shes just having another shower....well, when she left for work over an hour ago, she took out a bin bag and accidentally fell in the wheely bin. She got stuck and had to phone me to help her get out...yeah i know its crazy, anyway she went for a shower obv cos she smelled of rubbish, but she got out the shower and then her mum phoned with some bad news...well, it so happened that her dad also fell in a wheely bin, head first, so he is trapped upside down and they are waiting for the emergancy services to arrive,to get him out....she was obv upset by this and was a bit emotional...yeah, anyway she has gone back in the shower now becasue she still smelled quite bad, but she shouldn't be too long...ok,bye.

some of the stupid things i've said this week...

 At the zoo, I suggested that the polar bear might have Malaysia! (I meant to say malaria, which sounds odd but the water in its enclosure was really minging!)
 In tesco I asked Han if baby needed Haydust, no I mean haydust, ssssawdust. She laughed at me!
 Yesterday a 12 year old told me joke, although she didn’t tell me it was a joke and I was in serious conversation mode…she said” did you know that sky are hosting a new tv channel which will demonstrate how to make oragami?”, “Really?” (says I) “ yeah but its going to be pay per view” (paper…yeah I missed that) “what? Who would actually pay to watch that?”…..she looked at me with sincere pity, then explained the joke. Yeah…
 This morning I said sorry to a bin! I walked into it and thought It was a child.

Theres more, I never stop saying stupid things. Its not that im actually stupid, well, sometimes only!

crap films!!

is it just me? or are all the films in the cinema just now rubbish??

have seen 3 crap films this week!!

The 40 year old virgin...which Hannah chose over Land of the dead, was crap! I hate blatently stupid humour! i think its pathetic and stupid! i think i laughed once!

A History of violence...Which Lou and Carrie decided to see instead of Land of the dead(even though we were initially meant to see pride and prejudice..) It was crap for many reasons, the pornographic bits for a start! I felt it was one of those films that took itself a bit too serious!! Hated the actress that played his wife! she was crap! spent half the time trying to figure out what other film she was rubbish in and figured out right at the end that it was the amytville horror(also a crap film!)and the highschool bully was a joke! and the gangsters were also crap, all round crapness!!!!and they tried to make it all arty at the end with the silence...

and last night...Hannah and i had a choice between Kinky boots (which sounds dodgy but has the people from love actually and shaun of the dead in it so it might be quite funny) or...Oliver Twist! We chose the dire remake of Oliver which was just like the origional without the songs. So, it was fairly rubbish! Not even funny rubbish were you could laugh at how bad it was, we did try! cinema was freezing too which was sucky, kinda wanted to leave but didn't, should have! We realised before it started that it was going to be crap actually, because it was the opening night of the film and it was friday night, yet there were 9 people all together watching it! hmmm.

Wow, writing about films is something Adam or James would do, strange!

misfits!!!!

Whilst at work i often ponder some odd things! why is it...

...sandwiches are square, but sandwich meat(or quorn) is round?

...pizza is round, but comes in a sqare box?cd's are round but they come in square boxes? infact generally, round things come in square boxes!

...a "set-square" is called a set square when it is triangular?

i don't get it!!!

Saturday, September 03, 2005

some stupid things i have done(or still do).

...did you ever stop for a cup of coffee on the way somewhere just to be fashionably late?
...did you ever say you look ugly when you KNOW you look good, just so people will tell you how pretty you are?
...did you ever stare at someones reflection in a window so that they wouldn't know you were looking at them?
...did you ever phone someone "accidently" just to hear them say hello?
...did you ever test out a new surname?
...did you ever listen to a song (or every song) and make it relevent to your life, even when it blatently isn't?
...did you ever run away from home and come back what felt like hours later and no-one had noticed you were gone?
...did you ever blame someone for breaking something that belonged to you when you broke it yourself, and then they bought you a new one??
...did you ever fake a migraine to get out of an exam and end up in the eye pavillion with some doctor putting stuff in your eyes?
...did you ever convince your best friend to buy ghd's just so you could use them every day?
...did you ever tell someone you loved them just cos they said it first?
...did you ever write a random list of stuff you do/have done because you have nothing new or exciting to write about???

am i a closet cleptomaniac?

seriously...yesterday i managed to steal 4 things without even meaning it!!! oops

my sisters hair bauble (i did mean that one actually but i told her i would give her it back....and i know i wont)

a bright pink pencil (it was just in my bag, it says "the girls brigade" on the side....where would that have come from???)

a pen( its someones from work, again it just happened to be in my bag, no idea how, i dont think i put it there though)

a bottle of juice( the woman in the shop obv forgot to charge me for it and i didn't realise til i was back at work, then i felt quite bad)

ooooooooops!

goodbye summer wardrobe!

realised this morning on my way to work that its starting to get a bit colder and i won't be able to wear summer clothes anymore :(

its that inbetweeny stage though wear its too cold most days for flipflops but not so cold that you would need a scarf...i hate the inbetween! im happy with sunny days and equally happy on really cold days. but i hate inbetweeny days!

also hate it when the weather is unpredictable! When you look outside and choose an outfit for the day and is all fine until the weather changes, and you end up getting soaked or carrying half your clothes because its too hot!

Where do they go??

I used to get quite frustrated with socks! infact i stilll find it hard to understand HOW they can get lost between my bedroom and the washing machine! its not a big distance!!

But its not socks that have been annoying me lately....its hair baubles!( is that how you spell that?hmmm?) it seems to me that no matter how many i buy they all go missing! seriously. And its so annoying wandering around the flat with my hair held up in one hand and my hairbrush in my mouth using my other hand to look under everything!

so, today i made a consious effort to find all of my hair baubles and put them in a box(which is technically a christmas box). but even though i looked everywhere i think ive only found about a quarter of them. Where do they go?? seriously, there are only 6 rooms in our flat...its a mystery.

i bet there are tonnes under my bed but i was too scared to look, a giant spider was seen going under there last night so im too scared of looking. i was trying to not even put my feet on the floor in my room cos i was so scared. At one point i jumped from my bed on to my chair, but its a swivell chair and i fell cos it moved and banged my head, which hurt a lot!

babys fine...

...but vince is dead! : (

vince (son of sannah and toffee) died last night according to antony. He does not know the cause of death. Nothing weird though(apparently)

in other hamster news: Sparkle has moved house. Hannah decided that she might want to get another pet and gave sparkle away to some kids who live in the next street. I have suggested that maybe giving your pets away when you get bored of them is not the best example to be setting but what do i know. At least her new owners might give her a bit more attention. and she should be fine if she avoids their cat...and Rock weiler!

Saturday, August 13, 2005

by the way im worried about baby!

she was making weird noises when i gave her food last night, like this oink grunt type noise, concerned she has developed like rabbit turetts syndrome or something. or rabies...i hope she doesnt die! our pets tend to die strange sorts of deaths as it is, i had hoped that she would just die of old age. unlike ham (the hamster) who became paralysed (after an unconfirmed electric shock??) and then ended up in a coma before dying after a few days. Or sannah (the hamster) who simply drowned...in the toilet!!

im sure she will be fine though...

trying not to be cranky....

...but i just am.

trying to not be but im a bit of a synic i think. Was writing in my diary this morning about my week and the good things and bad things about it. Normally i would write in it every day but i literally havn't had ANY time !!! anyway yeah, the good list was about 8 things i think, the not good list... 3 pages in length

note to self...negativity is clearly not positive!!

im sleepy, was really looking forward to sleeping last night, but my evil neighbours and there flipping music at 4 am ensured that i didnt get much sleep. i have never knocked on a door so loud in my live!! make a mental note : tired sam is cranky, do not mess!!

the dreaded 4 minutes...

im talking about the four minutes that occur in the middle of every tv show, which contain some of the most ridiculous pointless adverts conceivable. do you think the people creating them are given a spec that if they cant come up with a clever way of advertising a product just to make it as annoying/pointless/stupid as possible so if all else fails at least it will stick in peoples minds?

Current adverts which are in my opinion stupid/annoying

...magicool

basically they want you to buy a can of compressed air. My main problem with this advert is that there main aim is to combat people jumping in a pool of water with their clothes on, i wasnt aware that many people did this?? the other thing that annoys me is the winking camel, purely because its a winking camel!

...3

the advert for 3 mobiles with the slogan " we like play" and features a freakish Chinese girl with massive hands, i dont get it. I think its not meant to be got though, its just stupid! and the whistle music gets stuck in my head!!!

...the direct line identically forgetful twins

yeah, i think the one with the dogs is the most annoying, i think if a real dog swallowed something that big it would die!! the other annoying one is the one where they leave the tap running and suddenly the roof caves in...um, i hardly think so. and of course direct line come round four minutes after its happens and sort everything , which is also highly unlikely.

...ring ding ding

that stupid ridiculous crazy frog and his equally sinister friend tweety the chick!!!
why do kids like it so much thats what i dont understand!! and the worse thing about the crazy frog is that there are now 3 versions, i hate the crazy frog!

...elephant.co.uk

and im not sure whether the elephant or the "actor" selling the insurance annoys me more though, its close.

...the quote me happy insurance people.

well since when is anyone happy about paying for insurance no one cheers down the phone in real life and if they do, thats silly!

...injury lawyers direct

sometimes accidents happen, i think the whole concept of it is crap. Most annoying one is the guy who crushes his hand when he falls off the ladder. he says "i was given the wrong type of ladder", well if you knew it was the wrong type of ladder why did you climb it?? and the ladder they show on the advert is clearly the wrong type of ladder to do ANY job, it infact looks like the first ladder ever created! its made of wood for flips sake!! and he get like £5000 for stupidity.

...herbal essences

its shampoo!!!! shampoo does not invoke that type of reaction in anyone, and if it does, they need to get a life!

...bazuka

antony actuallyl pointed this out to me. The advert is about bazuka gel and how it will bazuka that veruka, and the whole thing is set in a swimming pool, suggesting that if u use it , its ok to go swimming, BUT in tiny tiny tiny writing along the bottom of the screen says that you shouldnt swim until completely clear of infection...stupid!!

...the kandoo advert

the kid just freaks me out. Did they intentionally try to find a alien looking child or was that a happy coincidence??

...the lynx adverts

spray yourself with lynx and women will be all over you with very little clothes on...um, maybe not eh? lynx isnt even thats nice, its only deoderant for goodness sake, it cost like £3, and girls know that your gran prob bought you it as part of a christmas giftset!!

...calm down dear, its only a commercial

need i say more?

Friday, July 08, 2005

um ...

what was i just saying about life being somewhat unpredicable these days??

this has been a very bizarre week. Its weird how things are really good one minute and just crap the next.

for a change im not even talking on a sam scale but nationally!! Wednesday night, i got in from the live8 concert filled with a renewed sense of hope for humanity and thinking that the world was soon to be a better place. People all over the country im sure were also chuffed about the whole olimpic thing. What a contrast to how i felt on thursday morning, i wake up to find out that London has been subject to a terrorist attack. its just crap!! innocent people are dead, all they were trying to do was go to work. I just find it really hard to understand how people can be capable of such evil. How is it even possible to combat the problem when these are the kind of people who are willing to strap a bomb to themselves and die just to kill other people, what can possibly drive someone to do that??

it didnt compleatly disrupt the g8 summit(which perhaps it was meant to?), and the acton plan for africa is moving in the right direction. And they have promised to further discuss the trade issue...which is the most important thing that needs to change. so thats also good but i hope it doesnt get forgotten about or put on a back burner now that there isnt constant coverage of make poverty history marches or live 8 concerts to keep it at the front of peoples minds...

well, that was the serious side of sam that infrequently blesses this blog with its presence, but there you go.

Sunday, July 03, 2005

life is weird!!!

mine is anyway! life has become somewhat unpredictable, not always a bad thing i suppose. Just been thinking about stuff actually. well, this was the train of thought i think give or take a few things

...make poverty history
...wow
...wonder if the whole thing will work
...wonder what a difference it would make in ten years time
...or in one years time
...or even by the end of this week
...and infact where will i be in ten years time or next year or this time next week
...wow

and then it sort of carried on from there on various different tangents, such as

...if i hadn't quit my teaching degree id be qualifying as a teacher next year.
...wonder how my uni friends are actually
...wonder if i will go back to uni again
...wonder if i will quit uni again if i do
...wonder if my family would nag me more or less if i did that
...wonder what the favorite sibling will do when she grows up
...wonder if she likes the top ive got her for her birthday
...wonder if she will be even more of a diva when she's 15
...wonder if that's actually possible
...wonder if she will acuse me of intentionally chastising her
...wonder if she would use smaller words than that but to the same sentiment
...wonder if antony likes her better then me i def used to be his fav sis!!
...wonder if antony will still live in edinburgh or london this time next year

and then i seemed to have gone full circle to where will i be this time next year!!
so then i eventually got on to the general thoughts of how some things will enevitably change

...James wont live round the corner anymore, in fact as of tomorrow he is moving back to england :(
...someone will at some point move in with alastair
...alastairs life size Jamie oliver will prob move to the living room as soon as james leaves
...we will have to buy our own dvd's/cd's instead of stealing james'
...fashion will change, this time next year boho will be frowned apon!!
...hairstlyes will change, although ghd's will prob still be a must have
...we will prob have more useless things that we dont need, and i dont just mean bunny accessories
...something will happen which is completely unexpected that i couldn't even begin to comprehend or imagine now but as soon as im finished typing this i shall more than likely ponder many an unlikely senario in my head

things to avoid at all costs...(another list sam??)

(list inspired by a traumatic experience with a blue bottle!)

...being trapped in confined spaces with a fly/wasp/other winged creature/people who smell/people who are very boring.

...entertaining any conversation which starts with someone telling you that you have a nice smile.

...people on the bus, dont even make eye contact!!(unless you know them, that is occasionally acceptable)

...indoor water fights(lightbulbs will explode)

...boys - they smell

...getting in the shower with a spider

...spilling cups of tea on computer keyboards. (and thats something normal people would do once and learn from)

...singing out loud when wearing earphones.

...thinking about the future, it never ends well.

...making lists too long

another sunny day! and im stuck at a desk

im sitting looking out at a sunny day and thinking of the fun things i could be doing in the sunshine. why are saturdays not rainy and miserable so that im not missing out?? so i have been promted to write a poem about saturdays, its also about my youth...this is deep!!!!

saturday used to be my favorite day of the week when i was little
and i used to look forward to the exciting things i could do
the day to do everything and the day to do nothing
unless its the day you have to go to work
ruined forever is the saturday feeling
dread the saturday morning alarm
and now i wish it was still
yesterday

see what i did there? thats called an acrostic poem!and im going to go and do some work now!

sometimes...

sometimes i cant sleep

sometimes i think too much

sometimes i wonder if i am insane

sometimes i wish i could see in to the future

sometimes i wish i could change the past

sometimes im too sarcastic

sometimes im too self involved

sometimes my priorities are all wrong

sometimes im too stuborn

sometimes i dont say things when i should

sometimes i say the wrong thing at the wrong time

sometimes i think im a total failure

sometimes i wear fairy wings when i feel sad, even tho im 21

sometimes the only thing i want to do is sing

sometimes i wake up feeling sad

sometimes i play one song on repeat like 20 times

sometimes people make fun of me for having completely irrational fears

sometimes i wonder why i seem to have an obsession with creating lists??

a sad confession and a bbq on the beach...

last night me, hannah, Kevin and James had a bbq on the crammond beach (which was quite fun with the exception of the sand, which i hate) and i have now dicovered that food fights are dull and boring in comparrison to seaweed fights!!!its actaully minging! Hannah didnt find it as fun i dont think, but then we were kind of bullying her by calling her swamp thing and laughing at the fact that she was stranded on a rock in the sea...and then at the fact she fell in!!

we have left quorn sausages in the sand strategically placed to look like fingers and hopefully traumatise a child today!

and the sad confession...which really is a confession about being sad!...u know that u have reached a new level of sad when not only to u eat ice cream to feel better, but ur friends start buying u the ice cream. (Thanks Kat and Gillian xx)

NOTE TO SELF: APPEAR MORE HAPPY :)

Saturday, June 18, 2005

forgot to mention...

the most fun magical amazing thing that me and Hannah did yesterday was ....buy a bunny harness! so now we can take the bunny for walks and its sooooooooo cute!

one child (a clearly stupid child) actually asked us if the bunny was a puppy?? i think it may take her a while to get used to the pavement but she likes it on the grass. i am also aware of the dangers of her being mauled by a dog :(

anyway...if han and me manage to be technical maybe i will post a picture of the very cute bunny called baby on a walk outside!

ode to putting my brain in a jar beside my bed.

wouldn't it be nice to have a special power,
maybe for a weekend or even just an hour,
to put my brain in a jar beside my bed,
and forget all the worries inside of my head!

wouldnt it be nice to just think of nothing,
as if my head was merely filled with some stuffing,
and i wouldnt feel rubbish and i wouldn't feel sad,
i dont really think it would be all that bad!

practically speaking it cant be done,
which makes me unhappy and it ruins my fun,
cos just for a bit it would be nice to escape,
id just like to give my brain a break.

today ive been thinking...and it didnt even hurt that much!

its funny how sometimes you think about what your thinking about. Thinking just happens but considering you think without thinking, you actually have to think about what you are thinking before you can express these thoughts.

today ive been thinking about my thinking, because recently i discovered that day- dream sam (thats also me btw) thinks very nostalgically! and infact i go on little journeys through my mind of places, never people, always places! and ive now realised that ive been subconsiously doing this for my entire life!

These are some of the places i go:
...my garage in my old house, which was added when they did the extention and i always stand just at the bit where the door opens to go through to the utility room and my parents bedroom.
...the corridors of my primary school in kirkintilloch, i frequently walk from the cloakroom up the stairs, or walk through the head teachers corridor(not that i spent a long time there in my youth! lol), the tiny room next to the stage, and sitting in the main hall on top of a stack of chairs!
...the cemetary! yip!
...sometimes im in a car driving past an aeroplane, im sure we past one on the way to my grannies house every weekend.
...my grannies house!! tonnes of places!under the dinningroom table is common.
...my grannies garden! i have mini adventures actually, from the hut i walk round to the rockery and hide in the little space there is then realise its a stupid hiding place and climb the tree!

this may be another list i add things to!!btw what a good name for a book! "the places i go when i day dream" v promising methinks!

i have come to the conclusion that...

...noone really likes the taste of raw tomatoes.

...haagen daz is from the devil, and must be avoided.

...red cars are taking over my entire street, and perhaps the world

...your not hardcore, unless you live hardcore!!lol!!

...at some point living hardcore will cause you to be very tired.

...men are far more complicated than women!!!

...some people are just mean!

...three hours is not enough sleep to funtion properly.

...dreams about your teeth falling out is significant of vanity! (no really i read that in a book...it must be true)

...rainy days make you sad inside.

...sunny days also make you sad if you stuck inside! at work :(

...sometimes when you get an answer you wish you hadn't asked the question in the first place.

yip!i might add some more to this later.

um...can we talk about me now please!

im quite self obsessed! actually very self obsessed!and i will admit that! but it annoys me when people say :"the world doesnt revolve around you" because actually, to me , it does!

i think this because... i have a perspective of the world that noone else has. everything in this world relates to me differently than other people, there are millions things i dont know that other people do and some things i do know that some other people dont. I get absolutely obsessed with things (such as colour co-ordination) that other people dont even think are worth thinking about, let alone mentioning.

so it might only be my world, but it certainly does revolve around me as far as im concerned!

**i live in a wolrd of my own, but its ok...everyone likes me here!**

my sister...is evil!

i dont really think my sister is evil...(i dont think you are evil steph)but this morning she was mean!!!!

i stayed at my mums last night and ended up sleeping in her room, which used to be mine, until i moved out, and she moved in and claimed it within all of like 15 minutes! and this morning at stupid o'clock she gets up because she has to go to school, her alarm goes off like 3 times and when she does actually get up she starts talking to me when all im really meant to be doing is dreaming! when i suggest that maybe she could just not talk anymore, she says "i think we'll have some avril" and proceeds to put music on! is it just me or is that just mean? anyway she left for school eventually, after sitting around for 15 minutes doing nothing???because she was too early, who runs EARLY in the mornings?!? and i intended on going back to sleep, but was far too awake. So i got up, but i didnt want to. And i did some stuff. and after a while thought that this could be the kind of pointless thing i can write about on my blog!

oh and while im here:

this morning i was wakened early,
cos my sistor is an evil girly.
but i couldnt get back to sleep,
i even tried counting sheep!
and now...im feeling grumpy :(

Hello cruel world

um...My friend James has created this blog for me!!! what a fantastic gift! i would have done it myself but im quite thick and prob would have messed the whole thing up.

He has also assured me that noone is going to read it...which makes me sad because im a princess and i like to be the centre of attention! but its prob just as well because then less people will judge me for my bad spelling and odd eccentricities!

anyway im not going to do the whole history of my life thing, and im not going to use this as a diary...because i cant cheat on my diary...im hopelessly devoted! and im not going to write about my day, becasue it was a sad day :( and i had to say goodbye to my parrot, he moved house!

i may post some random things, such as ross' bedtime stories or various plans for my life(no that wont happen...i dont even vaugly have one)or even a poem...im good at rhyming, i went through a stage of contantly speaking only in rhyme...but it was starting to cost me friends ...so i stopped.

im done for now!
